Shopping “green” in Cincinnati is easier than ever right now, thanks to variety of eco-friendly shops and businesses that are popping up around the city. Here are eight local businesses that are helping make the Queen City a greener place to live.

Fill More Waste Less in Madisonville is a one-stop shop that helps customers live a waste-free lifestyle. The shop’s refillery station includes laundry powder, dishwashing liquid, hand soap, body wash, shampoo, cleaner concentrates, lavender bubble bath, face cream, and more. Searching for a unique gift but want to limit your waste? Check out their plastic-free gift boxes, including boxes designed for kids, canines, and tea and coffee lovers. You’ll also find other essentials to aid you on your zero-waste journey, including tree-free toliet paper, reusable travel straws, wax food wraps, and compostable floss.

Better Bin Compost Company

Composting is an excellent eco-friendly lifestyle choice, but it can be difficult do to in an urban environment. Better Bin Compost Company is helping make it a more accessible option for Cincinnatians! Since 2019, the company has been dedicated to educating local residents on diverting food waste through their composting services. Participants can drop-off compostable food waste at the Hyde Park Farmers’ Market on Sunday mornings or at Fill More Waste Less in Madisonville. Better Bin also offers a monthly membership service that includes at-home compost pickup every week. New to the recycling and composting scene? Scrap It Up in Pleasant Ridge is a creative re-use center that’s on a mission to reduce waste by buying and re-selling gently used art supplies. Scrap It Up is a craft-lovers paradise filled with all kinds of art supplies, including colored paper, Sharpies, fabrics, school supplies, sewing patterns, and more. Scrap It Up is run by volunteers who not only want to help the environment, but the community too, by holding events for teachers to shop for free art supplies at the beginning of each school year.
